The New Testament reveals a very simple form of early church leadership. Eph. 4:11 says, "And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers."
Elder Claude Haynes
Claude Haynes was born in PA and reared in TN & VA. After serving in the Navy and earning a college degree, Claude worked in commercial banking and later served 20 years as the deputy tax collector in Collier County. He was baptized in 1968. He moved to Naples in 1974. Claude served as an elder for the Mandarin Road congregation for 16 years before resigning in 1999 to care for his handicapped wife. Jeanne died in 2001. Claude married Dorothy Turner in 2004. Her husband, Thornton Turner, died in 2001. Claude & Dorothy have been blessed with many children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Dorothy passed in 2013.
Elder Barry Brown
Barry Brown was born in Florida and moved to Naples in 1972. He became a Christian in 1990. He and his wife, Kathleen, have been blessed with 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Barry served as a deacon for over 15 years before he was installed as our newest elder in 2015. Landscaping is his occupation while evangelism is his life’s work. Mission areas are Grounds & Evangelism. He is responsible for maintaining the church property. His focus is on equipping people to lead Bible studies.
Elder Ben Gyimah
Ben Gyimah was born in Ghana, Africa and immigrated to the USA in September of 1988. He became a Christian through American Missionaries while living in Ghana in 1972. He and his wife, Stella, have been married since 1988. God has blessed Ben with 5 children and 2 grandchildren. The Gyimah family moved to Naples from Newport, RI in February of 2002. Ben holds the position of Radiation Safety Officer and Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist at NCH Hospitals.
Preaching Evangelist Lyle Asbill
Lyle Asbill – Pulpit Minister - Prior to beginning his work in Naples, Lyle served the Grapevine Church of Christ in Grapevine, TX for almost 14 years. Before that he served the church in Des Moines, IA for 3 years. Lyle and his beautiful wife Carrie have two grown children Christian and Baylee. Lyle loves to teach (especially the Old Testament) and to encourage members and visitors alike. He enjoys traveling (more than a dozen mission trips to Ukraine and Nicaragua), spending time with family and cooking. “One of my greatest thrills is to see that 'Aha' moment when people understand God’s Word as it speaks to them.”
